Have Fun!
This is my last blog so I want to end by saying College it a great
experience and is a place where you will meet life long friends. It is
important to do well in school, but its okay to have fun at the same
time. Just make sure you find a good balance between your social life
and school work. Pay attention in class and do your assignments on time
by staying organized. Youll feel a lot better when midterms and finals
come around : )
Choosing a College
Choosing the right college is important. There are many different things to consider when searching for colleges. Some factors include; location, size, majors offered, and price. You should start off by figuring out a few majors you would be interested and choose a school that offers those classes. Then depending on the type of student you are decided wheather you want to have large classes or smaller classes. Finally choose a location you like. This is the best way for you to get the most out of your college experience.

Not Getting Distracted
Another part of staying focused is not getting distracted by the different things at college. Its a lot easier to tell a friend you'll hang out with them instead of doing your homework or studying for a test. You have to be able to say no to invitations when you need to be doing school work. Other wise all your work will pile up. This also goes along with priorities, and making sure work comes first, because that is the reason you go to college. Sometimes during the semester your work load can be heavier than others. You have to be willing to cut into your free time during the busier time of the semester. This might take away from your fun but in the end you will be less stressed.
Stay Motivated
Now that you have your schedule laid out on paper you have to follow it in real life! This is the hardest part. It is important to stay motivated and stay on track. If you aren’t serious about following your schedule then your grades aren’t going to improve, and when its finals week your going to be overwhelmed.
Some tips to keep in mind in order to stay motivated is to set goals. It sounds silly but having a goal to strive for is the best idea. To stay motivated and focused on your goals reward yourself with a weekend get away or enjoying a movie. What keeps me motivated is the satisfaction of being able to tell people my GPA. It makes me proud of myself and makes all the hard work during the semester worth my time.

Free Time Schedule

As you can see from my schedule above, which includes my class schedule, work schedule, homework schedule and activity schedule, and I still have plenty of free time (purple) to do what ever I want! I also get to sleep in four days of the week without worrying to have to get work done. Since I get my HW done during the week in between classes I don't have to worry about it at night or on the weekends. Instead I use that time to relax!
Social Life
Now that you have school, work, and activities out of the way the rest of your time is free time! You can choose to do what ever you want during this time. Weather its going out late or sleeping in until noon. Once you have all your priorities out of the way you deserve time to relax, and do whatever you want!

Activities Schedule

My activities consist of working for the Spectrum, Intramural hockey, and going to the gym. You can see in the schedule above how I fit in each activity. The yellow boxes are my classes and the green boxes are my activities. Being involved around campus is a great way to meet people and gives you something constructive to do.
